Welcome to The Creative Plate, a New Orleans Based catering company ran by private Chef Keirsten Garnett. She's a NOLA native who decided to make her talents a career at a young age. She grew up learning the ways of Louisiana cooking from her elders. At the age of eight she used her first knife and iced her first birthday cake. In the process, she cut herself and the cake was hideous, but it was delicious. Since then she began to fall in love with the art of cooking and transforming ingredients. From there on out she was either in the kitchen or watching something on TV about food. As a chef was being born, throughout the years, she cooked for family events and also other people, but mostly her family. This was a joy for her mom and a break, she didn't have to cook! Mom later influenced Keirsten to apply for a summer culinary arts program at NOCCA, unfortunately she was not accepted. Sinking into depression over the rejection from NOCCA, the seed that had began to grow started to wilt. A week later she received a letter requesting her attendance for a full year program, the first of the schools kind. Among hundreds across the state, she was one of the few high school students that was chosen for this elite program. This program was under the E.L.F. (Emeril Lagasse Foundation) and provided chef with the tools to excel. From there, chef gained her kitchen etiquette, hospitality training, and other skill sets in and out of the kitchen. She is now doing things her way serving up Creative Plates.
